Fishing Reports 2008

We would like to say thanks to all our customers for another great year in 2008, we wouldn't be who we are, if it wasn't for our customers. Looking forward to seeing all our customers and their kids in the 2009 season.

As everybody knows, fuel prices went through the roof in 2008 causing us to raise our prices. So once again, we are so grateful that all our customers stood behind us, with our increases. That means a lot to us. So in 2009 we are lowering our rates for the spring winter flounder and striped bass fishing for all our customers. See our Reservations page for details.

As everybody knows, we were sailing out of New Jersey, for the month closure of the black fish seasoned in New York. And it turned out to be a real good move for us. I would like to say thanks once again to all our customers for the slight inconvenience but once again you guys carried us through the month of December and right through January. We will be doing the same thing in 2009 season.

Thanks a lot guys, and we are very grateful for all your business.
Rob and Joe and the outcast family.

December 9, 2008

For the past few weeks now the black fish has been on a mad chew, with Phil and his crew from Westchester and Frank from Marie-Mart from Staten Island. they were able once again to cash in on the awesome black fish bite, with everybody catching in and landing and releasing between 20 and 25 fish per person. The fish ranged between 3 and 9 pounds with everybody having at least a couple of fish in the 8 pound range. Today all the anglers kept the medium-size fish for their New York limits, and release all the big fish, there Was a quite of few seven and 9 pound fish that was going back over the side today on that mad bite. It has been a great site to see so many fish going back into the water and building up our black fish stock once again.

December 6, 2008

Today's black fish trip was for John & Paulie and the guys. The morning fishing was a bit slower than Friday's trip. We picked away for a couple hours. Once the guys had their limit, and with each guys holding back one fish, so we can hunt around for some bigger fish. We did find some, with a few fish topping the scale of 8 pounds. Majority of the fish weighed between 3 And 5 pounds. When all said and done the guys had landed and released 60 or so keeper black fish. It turned out to be one beautiful day weatherwise and fishing wise. The guys all had a great time, playing catch and release rest of the day, it is nice to see so many fish around to play with. And hoping for that one big one so they can mount.

December 5, 2008

Today's black fish trip was for some old-time friends to get together, to do what we all do best fish. Right from the morning the black fish were chewing hard. For the first couple of hours there was always 1 to 3 fish on at one time and also double-header hookups. The bite continued right to the time we left, we packed it in around one o'clock. It was all about getting out having a good time and catch up on some old time fishing stories and new reports on what's going on out East, the guys couldn't believe how good the fishing is down here to the South. we hear all about the stories out East, and now they seen it to the South with all the fish ranging 3 to 5 pounds and a few in the 7 & 8 pound range. With Captain Richie Kessinger from the star stream party boat from Freeport Long Island. And Captain Mike the tog master and Captain EC Newell man and Johnny v plus Captain Joe and Captain Rob. Everybody on the boat that day had at least 20 to 25 keeper black fish. The best thing of all was the fish were all released except the few for the dinner plate it was all about getting together and talk about old times and cashing in on some great fishing.

November 29, 2008

Today's black fish trip was for Johnny O and his crew from the fisherman's den , the fishing was a little slower than Friday's trip, but it was definitely okay with the guys landing well over 40 fish but only keeping the New York limits,

November 28, 2008

Today's black fish trip was for Mikey bagels and his crew; right from the morning fishing bite was on, the guys had their limit within a couple of hours. Paulie was high hook for the day, with landing over 20 black fish himself up to 6 pounds, but only keeping 1 shy of his limit to keep him open for a bigger fish. Each guy held back a fish so we can scout around in different areas looking for some bigger fish. We did find some bigger fish but nothing huge, but they did manage to put a few 8 and 9 pound fish in the boat. So when all said and done the guys had landed in released about 70 keeper black fish.

November 23, 2008

Today's trip was supposed to be for Fred and the guys from the beach Como, we needed to cancel the trip due to mechanical problems, the problem was resolved in a couple of hours, sorry guys about the trip, we will make it up to you on the next trip.

November 22, 2008

Today's black fish trip was for Johnny and his crew. It was a good day of black fishing, but it was just a little bumpy on the water. The winds were blowing up to 35 kn from the Northwest. It was just a little tough for the guys to feel the bite with all that winds, when all said and done the guys landed over 51 fish up to 9 1/2 pounds but only keeping New York city limits. The guys had a great time with the catch and release program. How much fish do you really need to bring home for the plate.

November 21, 2008

Today's black fish trip was for Johnny's boys. As soon as the lines hit the bottom the fish were jumping all over the bait, it was nonstop action for a good hour and a half with the guys making their limit in the first hour. Each one of the guys were holding back a fish so we can venture off looking for some bigger fish, all the fish in the morning ranged from 3 to 6 pounds. Then we found a few bigger fish up to 8 pounds in the afternoon. There was well over 60 keeper black fish that was landed and released that day. It was one ok trip that day.

November 16, and 15, 2008

Scheduled black fishing trips canceled due to weather.

November 9, 2008

today's black fish trip was for a for Joe and the guys from the Excelsior yacht club. The morning started out real slow, it looked like it was going to be one of those days. By 11 o'clock there was only a handful of fish in the box. We made a quite a few moves and it was the same results not much live, we move into a complete different area and what a difference it made, in one hour all the guys made their limit & more but only keeping their limits. It was a very slow start to late afternoon but it finished off real nice

November 8, 2008

Today's trip was for Bobby and the crew for a day of black fishing, right from the morning the bite was on, even despite the the terrible weather and rainy morning, and the wind's blowing up to 25 kn outs of the South. By 11 o'clock the guys had landed over 45 keeper black fish up to 7 pounds only keeping their New York city limits. The weather started to get worse; so the guys decided to head back home around 11 o'clock. It was terrible weather but fishing was excellent.

November 7, 2008

Today's night trip was for Lou and the guys striped bass. We fish the ocean and there was still a good role on the water it made things just a little uncomfortable, especially when the striped bass wasn't even cooperating. We landed to short striped bass and one bluefish, at the end of the outgoing tide we decided to pack it in for the night. The fish just had locked jaw that night, plenty of marks all around on the machine but they were just not feeding.

November 3, 2008

Today's trip was for Buddie and his crew for a day of black fishing. It was a slow grind of fish all day but the guys did manage to get their limit and was able to play catch and release for awhile hoping for the one big one. All the fish ranged between keepers to 6 pounds.

November 2, 2008

Today's trip was for Joel and his crew for a day of black fishing. All the guys were new to black fishing except Joel, and let me tell you these guys were good. It seemed like the harder the wind blew from the East the harder the bite was. The fish bite was all around the boat, the mad chew lasted at least 30 minutes. With all the guys making their limit early in the morning but holding back a couple of fish so we could venture off looking for those big ones. Unfortunately there wasn't no bigger fish to be hooked up, but definitely plenty of life. So the guys decided to head back home by 1 o'clock to watch the football games.

November 1, 2008

Today's trip was for Sam and his crew for a split charter. The morning we started out black fishing and the bite was a little picky, once the guys got the bite down they were able to get their limit. Once the limit was made , we switch over to sea bass fishing. The first drop was real good with everybody cashing in on the sea bass, the fish were coming over the rail for the first 20 minutes. The fish ranged from 1 1/2 pounds to 2 1/2 pounds.

Cancelled due to weather:

October 18, 19, 25, 26 & 28

October 12, 2008

Today's trip was for Jimmy and Artie and his crew for a split charter black fish and sea bass. Right from the morning black fishing was almost non-existing, 10 fish in the box we decided to make the switchover to sea bass. What a great move that was, on the first drop we put in over 20 quality sea bass in the cool. We only needed to hit a few spots to top off the cooler. By one o'clock we were in the triple digit numbers with sea bass. It was one hell of a switchover that was definitely no complaints. It is just amazing how the black fish just shuts down, and that's why those fish are amazing.

October 11, 2008

Today's trip was for John and his crew for a split charter, black fish & sea bass. The action was definitely a little slow from the previous days. But we did manage to limit out with black fish. Once the limit was made we made the switch, and that also was a little slow. But by the end of the day we did manage to put in at least 60 keepers sea bass in the cooler from keepers to 2 pounds. It was a slow grind through the day but they did manage to fill the cooler up with fish. John and his crew will be back out in November for those black fish once again.

October 5, 2008

Today's trip was for Mike and his crew for a split charter for black fish and sea bass. Right from the morning the black fish were growling it was like how we left them on Thursday, Mike and his crew had no problems making their limits that morning. Once the limit was made we made the switch over to sea bass fishing. It wasn't like Saturday trip for sea bass , but it was definitely okay, with the guys landing 60 or so keepers sea bass from keepers to 2 1/2 pounds. It was one hell of a weekend for our customers.

October 4, 2008

Today's trip was for Lou and his crew for a day of sea bass fishing. Right from the morning the fishing was hot and it continued right to the end. With Lou and the crew cashing in on filling up the cooler with triple digit numbers with quality fish. The fish range from 1 1/2 pounds to 3 pounds. It was another great day a sea bass fishing with Lou and his crew.

October 2, 2008

Today's trip was for Chris and his crew for a day of black fishing, the morning started out real tough, with the wind's blowing up would of 30 kn from the West, and a very hard in coming water it made it impossible to set up on anything to the North. So we decided to head down to the South, and boy did it paid off, in two drops the guys were cashing in on those black fish with everybody easily doubling their limits but only keeping New York limits. The fish ranged from keepers to 5 pounds. What a trip to kickoff the black fish season.

Labor Day Weekend

Today's sea bass trip was for John Carpenter and his crew. Drifting conditions were a little tough all day making things a little hard for the customers, but they did manage to put 67 keepers sea bass in the boat. The fish ranged from keeper to just shy 4 pounds. Also in the mix were three bonus fluke's & Porgys. It was one good labor day weekend fishing wise and weatherwise.

8/23/08

Sorry guys about our fishing reports, we had fallen behind on our reports. But we haven't fallen behind on our fishing. Bottom fishing for us has been very good from June right through August with with a average catch of 60 to 90 keepers sea bass per trip.

Our last trip 8/23/08 was for Lou and his crew. the guys had landed 80 keepers sea bass. From keeper size to 3 1/2 pounds also in the mix was some decent sized Porgys and 4 bonus fluke. It was another good day on the water.

I would like to say thanks to all our customers for a great year so far, I would like to wish all our customers and families and friends a happy labor day weekend. As the summer is coming to an end, and the fall is upon us, we are looking forward to a great fall fishing. Black fishing this spring was great, it was a real good sign. Hopefully that fishing will continue right through our black fish season. So looking forward to seeing all our customers once again for those black fish, and to cash in on the action.

June 21, 2008

Today's trip was for Ted and his group. We started the morning out striped bass fishing. Soon as we put the parachutes in the water, the striped bass were all over it. Out of 12 striped bass that was landed only two of them were keepers. Then We switched over to sea bass. Each piece that we hit, produced keepers sea bass.By the end of the day Ted and the guys landed 70 keepers sea bass from keepers to 2 1/2 pounds. There was also some nice 6 pound black fish that was landed, but needed to be released due to out of season. But will be back for those fish in early December.

June 15, 2008

Today's trip was for Aldo and his group from the finest window and company. The guys only want to do a six-hour trip for sea bass fishing. And some keeper black fish that was released due to out of season. For a half day trip the guys puts in a lot of fish in their cooler.

June 14, 2008

Today's sea bass trip was for Johnny o And his crew. It was another good day of sea bass fishing the guys had landed roughly 70 keepers sea bass. It took a quite of few drops to put together those fish and that's how it's been so far this season we need to work hard and hit a lot of drops to only produce 60 to 70 keepers sea bass. But there are some quality fish mixed in on each trip. Thanks again Johnny for another good day on the water.

June 13, 2008

Today's sea bass trip was for Jerry and his group. Jerry and his guys put together a round 65 keeper sea bass for the day it was another rough day we needed to hit quite of few drops to produce the sea bass, last year at this time there was a hell of a lot more keepers on each piece. We never needed to hit so many pieces before. But we do what we have to do to get those fish in the cooler.

June 8, 2008

Today's split charter was for John and Warren from A&Z Autobody. Started off striped bass fishing East of the jetty. We were doing some parachuting jigging this morning, the bass bite was a little slow in the morning before the incoming water. Once the tide switch to the incoming the bass started to feed. The only problem was they were small fish. There was plenty of action of fish but only pulling out three keeper bass up to 30 inches. We stuck it out for a while and it was the same results small fish. We packed it in and headed to the sea bass grounds. First drop everybody was hooked up with sea bass coming over the rails the guys manage to land 70 keepers sea bass for the day. The fish ranged from keepers to 2 1/2 pounds.

June 7, 2008

Today's split charter was for Sung group Chase Manhattan Bank. We started off in the morning parachute jigging, as soon the parachutes hit the sweet spot, the bass were jumping all over it, the color of choice was white and green. There was a total of 18 bass landed and only keeping 10. Then we switched over sea bass fishing we hit our first drop by 10:30 a.m. it was the same results once the bait hit the bottom the sea bass was coming over the rails. They managed to put together 60 keepers sea bass, from keepers to 2 1/2 pounds. Also in the mix was some Ling. And there was also some nice black fish in the mix, the guys had a great time with those black fish, but needed to be released due out of season. But the guys said they will be back for those fish in November. Thanks a lot guys, we had a great time.

June 6, 2008

Today's striped bass trip was what Steve and John and their buddies. Started the morning out parachute jigging. It was an all out frenzy for two hours solid. The boys landed 30 striped bass and only keeping their limit of 12. It was a really good bite the color of choice was white and green and a red and white Pork grinds. Once the action slowed down we the guys wanted to head back home. they had landed more than enough fish. John and Steve group. thanks for everything and we had a great time fishing together.

June 1, 2008

Today's sea bass trip was for Ted and his crew. It was one beautiful morning out in the ocean water temperature still hovering around 55° still on the cold side. We managed around 40 sea bass with one topping the scale at 4 pounds, the rest of the fish were from keepers to the 2 pounds. Also in the mix was some nice size Ling. One winter flounder that was weighed in at 3 pounds but released and also some keeper black fish that were around 2 pounds that also needed to be released. Overall it was a pretty good day. Ted will see you guys back in July for those sea bass once again.

May 31, 2008

Today striped bass trip was for Lou and Mike and the guys. What a difference a day makes, went right back to the same area where the fish were feeding and We only managed to land one striped bass there, the fish just wasn't feeding in that area that day took a little move to the East and the same results no striped bass just bluefish. Took another move down to the North and we managed another bass around 22 pounds, all that was really feeding that day was bluefish, we tried all different areas and it was just all the same results bluefish.

May 30, 2008

Today's split charter was for Steve Sam and the guys. We started the morning striped bass fishing, it only took about a half an hour before the striped bass started to feed. We had them in our chum slick for a little while. the guys managed to land 8 striped bass up to 22 pounds. Once it's slowed up we took a little move to the East drop the hook, once again it took about a half hour before the fish started to feed the guys landed another 4 striped bass, once they had their limit by 9:30 a.m. in the morning, we headed out sea bass fishing. It was a beautiful day in the ocean but the fish did not cooperate, the water temperature was still 55° a little on the cold side. It was a slow pick of sea bass the rest of the day.

May 29, 2008

Today's p.m. striped bass trip was for the Blessed Sacrament first annual striped bass trip. As soon as we set the anchor got the baits in the water. The 3 fishing rods started to scream the kids from the school was shocked they didn't know what to do, we told them to go to each Rod and lock up the reels, let me tell you they did a good job. Each one of them rods had landed 3 bass up to 22 pounds. The kids had their limit within the first hour then we played catch and release of the next hour hoping for that one big fish, but never materialized but there was no complaints from the kids all they had was smiles from ear to ear. Good job guys see you next year.

May 26, 2008

Today's combo trip was for Fred and Tony and his crew. We started the morning out striped bass fishing, and let me tell you it was a slow pick of fish, once again reading the fish on the screen but the fish just had locked jaw. But the bluefish definitely didn't. We tried a few different areas. And it was the same results locked jaw. Except we had 2 striped bass that committed suicide and jumped on the hook. By 9:30 a.m. we packed it in and headed out sea bass fishing. We made a few drifts and we started picking away at the sea bass. By 11 o'clock or so the wind started to come hard outs of the South around 25 kn it just made fishing conditions real crappy. The guys manage to put together around 40 sea bass up 2 pounds. And some really nice Ling that was boated also. Also in the mix there was 7 black fish up to 6 pounds that needed to be released due to out of season. But we shall be back for those guys in the fall.

May 24, 2008

Today's striped bass trip was for Rollen and his wife and the guys. Started the day by netting bunker wants the live well was filled up and the cooler we headed out. As soon as the first line hit the water we had our first bass, it was one good pic of fish all day, with everybody cashing in on the action and there was also no shortage of bluefish. But not as crazy as it been. The fish were topping the scales up to 22 pounds.

May 23, 2008

Today striped bass was for Peter and his son and friends. The action on the striped bass was definitely on the slow side, we were marking the fish but they just wouldn't turn on. Once again there was no shortage of bluefish. When all said and done the guys only landed to bass up to 20 pounds. We tried quite of few different areas with all the same results no takings on the bass, there was definitely real good bass life in all different areas on the machine, but we could not get them to feed.

May 21, 2008

Today's split charter was for Caesar and his crew, for striped bass and sea bass. With a pic of striped bass in the morning and the fish topping this scale of 18 pounds. Then we switched over to sea bass and that was also a real nice pic of fish. The guys landed around 50 fish up to 2 pounds. Also in the mix was round 12 nice size Ling. We also had over a dozen black fish up to 5 pounds, which was a nice treat for the customers. But needed to be released for being out of season. But the guys still had a ball catching them, overall it was a real good day.

May 13, 2008

Today's striped bass trip was for Eddie and the guys. First thing off to get bunker which was a tough situation after that big blow. It took about a half an hour before we had our friends get us the bait, it was much too tough for us to get on top of the bait. Our first stop was East of the Bay, where we were reading beautiful bass marks all day and also in all different areas too, but not too many takings that day. When all said and done the guys had landed four bass for the day. Bluefish action on the other hand was a little crazy. We thought Saturday bass trip was bad with only landing seven fish. For some reason the bass didn't want anything to do with live bunker or cut baits. It was one of our toughest trip so far this year. No matter how good you present the bait, when they have locked jaw is nothing that you can do and that's why they call it fishing.

May 10, 2008

Today's scheduled trip was for Pete and his guys for striped bass. The guys never showed up. So me, Rob and my brother Joe decided to go venture out on our own, first stop netting the bait and there was no shortage of bunker. The first spot was definitely no good with no bluefish life or bass life we hung around for about 40 minutes we read a bunch of life on the recorder but there was no takings. So we made a little move to the North, and what a difference it made. We had bluefish life immediately and a nice 20 pounds striped bass. We thought something was going to materialize as fast as the action came on it shutdown. Once again we decided to take a move, we headed East and read beautiful marks, stopped and we dropped the hook as soon as our bait hit the water we had two bass on. That was a good sign, sent the bait back out again and we had more bass. when all said and done me and my brother landed seven bass in the 20 pound class. The fish for some reason didn't want anything to do with cut baits they really only wanted live bait. We also missed a lot of fish that day with live bait overall it was great to get out and enjoy the day. We haven't did that in a while. Only keeping one fish for the plate that day. And releasing the six other bass, which was hook just perfect right inside the jaw making a great release on all the fish.

May 6, 2008

Today's night striped bass trip was for Duo Plumbing and Star Mechanical. First annual 2008 striped bass trip. First stop netting the bunker, once the live well was filled we headed over to our spot. In about 20 minutes after chunking, the bass started to come with a vengeance, we could not get the lines in the water fast enough. All the fish was laying right in the stern of the boat in our chum slick for every casts of the line we had fish on. All the guys had no problem making their limit. And then playing catch and release with those fish. There was many missed fish that night also. For some of those guys it was their first time bass fishing they did an awesome job.

May 3, 2008

Today's striped bass trip was for Rob, Rob and Joe. Started out netting bunker in the morning once we loaded up we headed out. It was a real crappy morning with a hard East wind and outgoing current made laying conditions pretty horrible. Once the live bait hit the water it didn't seem to matter, once again fresh-baits was the meal ticket. Despite those conditions the fish was having a field day. With all anglers limiting out within the first hour. Then we played catch and release for awhile. We moved around in search a bigger fish and all we found after that was bluefish which also was a lot of fun.

April 26, 2008

Today's striped bass trip was for Lou and Ken. The morning started out good with netting fresh bunker. We started fishing around 6:30 a.m. as soon as the bunker hit the water the bluefish started, after an hour we hooked up with our first striped bass. She weighed about 20 pounds. Now the bluefish is getting more intense we hung around for a little while longer and the same results more bluefish. We took a little move that also produce bluefish, after a half-hour or so we had another striped bass which weighed in about 18 pounds. This trip wasn't like the Thursday night trip which was completely opposite of this trip which only produced a few bluefish and all bass.

April 24, 2008

Today's night trip for striped bass was for Rob rob Jonathan and Ann. We netted some fresh bunker and we headed out to our spot. Once the bait hit the water we had a few bluefish, once the tide switched around 5:30 p.m. all hell broke loose. We had the striped bass in our chum slick for a solid hour. With everybody limiting out. My son also was on the trip and was able to cash in on the action, with landing two fish around 18 pounds. All fish ranged from keepers to 20 pounds.

April 20, 2008

Today's flounder trip was for John and his son and his crew. With a easterly winds blowing around 20 kn and outgoing water it made conditions real crappy. John son who is four years old, broke his cherry for the first time with his flounder. That day the the customers only landed nine flounders. The only good part that came out of it that day was John son got the experience of fishing with the guys. And breaking his cherry with his father.

April 19, 2008

Today's trip was for my brother Jeff and my two nephews. It was perfect conditions but the fishing wasn't so perfect. With my two nephews catching a total of 15 flounders between them. We did have a great time and for them that was enough fish; they couldn't wait to get home and fry up the fish.

April 16, 2008

Today's open boat trip was for George Jimmy and John. With George and Jimmy catching their limit, and John just shy of his limit. Today's trip fishing was definitely slower than the previous trips.

April 12, 2008

Today's open boat trip was for Joe, Rob and Rob. All three anglers had caught their limit with the biggest fish pushing 18 inches.
